While Ibanez may be most renowned for its metal-orientated guitars, the AS2000-BS is a truly traditional affair. Boasting a semi-hollow body construction, this design harks back to vintage instruments from the '50s and '60s; promising a broad sound with plenty of acoustic-like resonance.
The Ibanez AS2000-BS Artstar's body is crafted from Figured Anigre; used to form the top, back and sides. Not only does this material feature a beautiful wood grain, but it also produces a rich mid-range voice and controlled attack in the high-end.
Many modern high-end guitars are fitted with rock-solid Roasted Maple necks, and the AS2000-BS is no exception — sporting a unique Roasted Maple/African Mahogany layered 3-piece neck construction. Via Ibanez's 'S-TECH' special roasted treatment, this process removes all of the natural moisture retained by the neck wood which ultimately makes it far less vulnerable to warping when exposed to varying climates.
The comfortable AS Artstar neck shape makes lush chords and intricate chromatic lines simply a joy to play, especially with the ultra-smooth Prestige fret edge treatment, while the silky Ebony fingerboard comes fitted with medium frets that offer you great control under the fingers.
Ibanez's AS2000-BS Artstar comes equipped with a pair of medium-output Super 58 humbuckers — pickups that really lend themselves well to jazz, blues and even rock. Featuring Alnico magnets, the Super 58s have a pure and clear quality, with a rounded tone that's perfect for warm extended chords. The innovative 'Tri-Sound' switch gives each humbucker three different sounds too, expanding the tonal versatility of the instrument.
